Although My Life in English is designed to get non-English speaking kids energized to learn a second language, we believe it can help English-speaking kids to expand their vocabulary. The app, created for kids between 9 and 11 years old also emphasizes pronunciation through the use of educational games. But in your case, the app can be used by younger children to boost their language development skills.

Did you know that in a poll several years ago, the United Kingdom sent out a billion Christmas cards? That means 17 for each man, woman and child. The fact that we still write letters and send them, old style, is terrific. But the vast majority gets thrown out, after the holidays. If we add all the wrapping paper, bows and packaging that come with every gift, just imagine how many of that ends up in the rubbish bin? The good news is that there are so many great and fun things we can make by recycling all of it.

Another year has arrived and most of us shared our new year´s resolutions last night. Setting goals for oneself is very rewarding but it shouldn’t be limited to adults. Let´s make the most of today and ask our kids what they want to see accomplished in 2016. Aside from their personal goals, you can create a list of things you´d like to do as a family. Just like we suggested in this article, “it´s not only a fun activity to do together but kids will be able to feel they are part of the team and will learn to be responsible.”

One of the best moments for parents is observing, from behind the doors, how their children play, speak and invent stories on their own. While the adults think of innocence and the beauty of growing up, kids entertain themselves and learn how to understand the world they’re actively engaged in. Activities, simple in appearance, such as dressing their dolls, activate very complex social and motor skills they need to develop. Far from just playing, there are things to be gained. Today, we would like to tell you what kids get out of dressing their dolls.

Our Wishmaker this month is Mumablue, a publishing house dedicated to create personalized stories for children. The idea was born as a way to motivate children to read. Cristina Rodríguez Blanco, founding partner of this magical initiative realized that digital media put storybooks at risk. She was also aware of the numerous studies on the importance of reading as a means to develop intellectually, expand horizons and encourage empathy and culture. So she decided to partner up with computer engineer, Manuel Córdoba, and create Mumablue. Later, designer Julio Morales and communications director Ro Venegas joined the team and together they sought to create a reading habit in children through personalized stories, as a way of cultivating future great readers. Because “what child wouldn’t want to travel on a unicorn, speak with gnomes or create magic?,” says Cristina.

Today is Christmas Eve and we´ve been invited to a banquet in the new PinyPon Villa. It´s going to be so much fun! We put on our party clothes and got into our car, arriving a bit before scheduled so we could see the Villa and help our hosts with the final touches before the guests arrive. The Villa, on the outside is beautiful. It has large bay windows, a fuchsia coloured roof and a terrace with colourful flowers. We can´t wait to go inside so we knock on the door and to our surprise, the doorbell really does ring! The door opens and Piny Boy welcomes us in.
