Make-A-Wish® with a presence in nearly 50 countries worldwide, grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life threatening illnesses,  enrichening their lives thru personal experiences full of hope, strength and happiness. These wishes contribute to the child and the family´s resilience, enabling them to face physical and emotional suffering.  It´s affiliate in Spain has the support of 200 medical professionals, 30 hospitals, 1000 private sector professionals and almost 400 companies who actively collaborate with them. Together, they take wishes very seriously. In fact, Make-A-Wish Spain is accredited by Fundación Lealtad, an independent organism that evaluates accountability, financial health and transparency. This month, The Toy Blog had the chance to interview Carmela Fernandez Piera, a Patron of  Make-A-Wish Spain. Do you realise we spend the majority of our adult life wishing we were more like children? Being more like children is something that teachers, psychiatrists, gurus and great thinkers encourage. The truth is, children know what many adults have forgotten: they live in the moment, have more confidence in themselves, are braver and enjoy life with far more intensity. There is no doubt that there are many things that we can learn from them. Here are 6 lessons that our children teach us on a daily basis.  Lessons that, when put into practice, will help us be more like them; be happier. Or at least, allow us to live life to its fullest.

As parents we know how important playing is and that the main purpose of playing – emotional, social, educational and physical – contributes to helping our children grow into healthy individuals. But did you know that children have the right to play?

Since 1989,  the Convention on the Rights of a Child, published by the United Nations, is contemplated in Article 31 and recognizes “the right of the child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts.”
